What can help me get in shape?

I’ve started exercising daily, resistance training and cardio. What foods can i eat to really boost my metabolism and help my workouts acually work? Would taking green tea supplements help boost my metabolism? Aslo, how do i know if I need to use a body cleanse? Do they work? Thanks!! <3

    this is the website I started today because of the great results I have had from following the no flour no sugar rule.
    I have no intention of ever going back to flour or sugar. There is no measuring, weighing or counting. Just no flour or sugar!

    First things first: eliminate all unhealthy foods and drinks such as sodas (regular and diet), fast food, processed food, foods high in saturated fat, sugar, and simple grains such as white bread, white rice, etc. Consume 5-6 small meals a day, a meal every three or so hours. This will keep you somewhat full throughout the day and keeps your metabolism high which is key in burning fat. Drink tons of water – about a gallon and a half a day – as this flushes out toxins, keeps your body hydrated, and helps in the depleting of fat cells. Plus water has no calories so drink as much as you want; it keeps you full. Eat protein in every meal; you should aim for 20 grams of protein if you can. After your protein, consume your vegetables and fruits and then your whole grains. Eat as many vegetables as you please as most of these are negative calorie foods, meaning you burn up all the calories in the vegetable by simply chewing and digesting it. Plus, vegetables keep you full for long periods of time. Here are some healthy foods: lean protein (chicken, turkey, flank steak, and fish), whole grains (oatmeal, brown rice, wheat bread, wheat pasta, wheat tortillas), wide variety of vegetables, low glycemic fruits (berries, apples, oranges, bananas), and healthy fats in moderation (olive oil, eggs* – also good sources of protein, nuts and legumes). You can also supplement your diet with whey and casein protein shakes, omega-3 fish oils, and flax seed. Protein shakes are great for pre- and post-workouts; I recommend Optimum Nutrition. They taste great are as basic shakes for women and men. Sample Day:

    7am – 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 apple, 1 whole egg with 2 egg whites

    10am – One scoop Whey Protein (post workout) and handful of berries

    1pm – 1 chicken breast, brown rice, 1 cup of steamed veggies

    4pm – 1/2 cup Almonds and yogurt

    7pm – 1 fillet Tilapia (or other fish) and romaine lettuce salad

    9pm – Casein Protein Shake

    ***Craving sweets or dessert? Consumer Jell-O (10 cals) or Jell-O Pudding (60 cals); both are fat free and are low glycemis

    ***Hungry? Snack on vegetables – carrot and celery sticks for example

    If you wish to do a cleanse, the best way to do it is naturally. Do a vegetable and fruit detox, in which in you strictly eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want for three days (only drink water) before you start the balanced diet outlined above. If you are already exercising, you may not need to do the cleanse, just switch up your diet. Good luck!

    Let me give you a summary of my meals in a typical day:

    Breakfast: A high-fiber cup of oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. A pint of coffee or green tea.

    Alternatively, a high-protein scrambled egg with an Anaheim or Pasadilla pepper, a handful of mushrooms, and half-cup of cheese, with a topping of Greek or Italian spices. Two bananas.

    Lunch: Snacking and a meal at work is one orange and two apples; ten-grain, flax-meal, psillium home-made crackers with a half-cup of spreadable soft feta; a half-cup of cinnamon-sugar almonds; a pint of coffee; a quart of water.

    Alternatively, a soup of clam chowder with a half-cup of added mixed seafood such as clams and octopus or split pea soup; dried figs and apricots to satisfy hunger between meals; a half-cup of cayenne-coated sunflower seeds; a quart of water.

    Dinner: A half-head of lettuce with thousand island or blue cheese dressing. Two bananas with a glass of milk. Two cups of herbal tea.

    Alternatively, a high-fiber, multi-grain and flax meal pasta with red sauce, adding mushrooms, peppers, bok choi, and a few black olives. Another meal is stir-fry vegetables in a ginger terriyaki or vegetable spring rolls with duck sauce. A cup of brown rice or wild rice, not a true rice, as a high-fiber side dish is very filling with green tea or herbal tea.

    My daily exercise routine is 16 miles of biking, unless the weather is nasty. If the weather is bad, I run 4 miles a day with a backpack. On my days off work, I usually hike about 5 miles in winter due to snow on my paths and 10 miles in summer. Try to do at least an hour of moderate exercise per day, which can be a commute to pick-up groceries, get to work or school, or a hike in a park or neighborhood.

    BMI of 25 to 30 is not associated with excessive mortality. BMI of 30 to 35 is associated with 30,000 excessive deaths in the United States. BMI of greater than 35 is related to 80,000 deaths per year in the United States. In a study of 900,000 adults, every 5 BMI greater than 25 causes a 30% higher death rate. Obesity over 30 BMI increases medical spending by 10% on average. Obesity costs a person shortens a life by about 3 years.
